Closed Loop Solar Panel to Storage Tank System use a heat transfer fluid to collect heat and transfer the heated fluid to the water storage tank. This heated fluid is a glycol-water antifreeze mixture which is effective in areas subject to freezing weather. The closed loop system is a preferred option for year round use in the UK, the fluid inside the pipes does not mix with the water inside the storage tank. Using this method no contamination is possible of the daily hot water stored in the tank and the antifreeze mixture within the lower coil pipes.
